"On Dick Clark and his return to New Years Eve - "The man can talk," Shefrin said. "It's not 100 percent perfect. He's still working on it becoming more perfect, but he's certainly capable of doing the show. Otherwise he wouldn't be here. There's no facial contortion. There never was any facial contortion." Dick Clark set for New Year's homecoming- Wow. He was hidden away until like an hour into it and it was good to see him. Overheard here, "the first time in history TV ever put on a host who'd been affected by a stroke". He surely seemed to be in there but struggled with the wording. It was like Harry Caray, we could care less if he sounds like he's slurring his words a little. It was a bit sad yet he is an old friend who I was glad to see again at all.

Joel: "As an employer, I've seen that the 100% Java schools have started churning out quite a few CS graduates who are simply not smart enough to work as programmers on anything more sophisticated than Yet Another Java Accounting Application, although they did manage to squeak through the newly-dumbed-down coursework." The Perils of JavaSchools. - I remember a time about 5 years ago working at MOT coming to this same conclusion because we had young Java trained programmers who think garbage collection is the answer to everything. They've never had to clean up behind themselves and we'd hired them to write C/C++ in embedded systems where the only thought about "garbage collection" means dropping the pizza boxes outside the office door on Saturday evening and knowing they are still going to be there on Monday morning. Or worse, we might still be here too cause the Java boys have created a few too many memory leaks.
